Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Already one sixth into the new year and my ongoing 365 project is well on the way to becoming a routine again. Last year I ran out of steam regarding the uploading part during the spring months for a variety of reasons, but this year I am going to keep it up and upload stuff every day. I think the addition of negative scans here and there among the cell phone shots will be the thing that keeps me going, that inspires me to do this one more year. Mixing it up a bit you know!Read More
The 365 project is back! Actually it never left after I took the 365th picture of 2018, I just kept going into the new year. I didn’t feel done with my one picture per day thing, partly because I didn’t upload the pictures daily during the year - I just stored them on my computer and inserted them into my book file, yet to be printed.
This year though, the still somewhat new and shiny 2019, I am going back to uploading the daily image to my Instagram account. I am widening my sources of images too, no longer restricting myself to cell phone shots only. As good as the Samsung S8+ is, I have snapped quite a few good ones with my (to me) new Kiev 60 medium format camera too, so I will include a few of them here and there as the year progresses, and possibly other analog photos as well.Read More
Time for the last of three one-a-day postings to close out 2018, where I write about some of the pictures of September and October (November and December will be commented on in the new year). These two fall months are often quite pretty in this part of the world with all the changing colors in nature, so photographic opportunities are definitely out there (assuming you don’t shoot mostly black and white film as I do now of course! ;-)Read More
It’s no secret that I've taken quite a long break from posting stuff this year...especially for those few who followed my Instagram 365 project on Instagram. The last post I did on that one was on May 1st. Like I said in my last blog post; for a variety of reasons I ran out of the urge to upload things, so that account became dormant along with many other online outlets of mine.
However I didn’t stop taking photos during the “downtime”, so I still have pictures for my yearlong project. They’re posted here in galleries on my website instead of in one big gloop of pictures on Instagram, because it would be wrong to spam the heck out of that account with all the pictures!Read More
Fourth month of the year is done and once again it is time for a little monthly wrap-up post from me. April was not a very happy month for me and I am very glad we are now into the month of May when the weather is better and the light lasts longer and longer every day! I did lose the urge to post my images every day right after the middle of the month, but I've since caught up again and I don't have any plans on stopping the project before I am done on December 31st.Read More
Since today is April 1st (and don't worry, this is a 100 percent April Fools free blog post) it is time for another wrap-up of this year-long project, the third in this "series". March was a month with some challenges on the personal front, so it was not the easiest to keep the project going, but somehow I kept going and managed to put this third month of the year behind me, making one fourth of the thing done.Read More
So...it’s now February 2018 and that means I am officially done with the first month of this year’s 365 project and it also means that it is time to look back at the 31 images I uploaded during that month. Just like I did during my 2016 365 Project I’ll pick 5 or 6 images and write a bit about each so there's a little bit more "meat" than just the hashtags I've put on each on my posts to Instagram.Read More
2018 is just shy of three weeks old as I write this on January 20 and if you happen to follow me on Instagram (instagram.com/tomasnilssonfoto), Twitter (twitter.com/tomnilsson) or Facebook (facebook.com/TomasPhotos) you may have noticed that there has been a few daily Instagram photo postings from me under the #instagram365 hashtag since January 1.Read More
Once again I am allowed to show my photos to the general public, in this case at a local hospital's cafeteria space. I thoroughly enjoy the process with exhibitions, from taking the photos, processing them, picking what photos to print, printing them, framing them and putting them on the walls.Read More
At the start of a year you're supposed to write a "this is what I will try to achieve" post (at least that's what seems to be the consensus among many bloggers), and I did one of those last year, where I stated that in 2016 I would do two things photographically that year; an Instagram 365 project (which I finished) and I would do more analog photography (which I've at least I've begun to do). So that's great for 2016...but that makes me think of goals for 2017.Read More
