The 365 Project Mark VI - Month Eleven

The eleventh month of the year was one of lots of fall colors, but also a lot of rain, gray skies and increasing darkness. It’s usually a bit tricky to shoot during this month, because once the daylight saving time is over it gets dark pretty early in these quite northerly latitudes, which makes photography a bit difficult if you’re not using artificial lights…which I don’t…not yet anyway…perhaps that is something to strive for in 2022? We’ll see!

The 365 Project Mark VI - Month Five

The weather is warm, the days are long and the colors are plentiful. Early summer is here after a long and cold spring where we’ve all been waiting for the slow return to normalcy. For me personally it feels a lot better to be able to be out and about taking photos of things when there’s long afternoons to make use of, and even better that I’ve been able to get the first vaccine dose at long last, with the second planned for early July. There’s light at the end of the tunnel…and it’s not likely to be an oncoming train!

The 365 Project Mark VI - Month Four

One third of the year is done and it feels we are still in the same holding pattern we’ve been in since March of 2020, waiting for the light in the tunnel. Thankfully the weather is getting better, the days are getting longer, there’s more green and other colors out there and allergies are kicking in (that last bit isn’t positive, but at least it’s an indication that spring is here…this year I’ll take that as an almost good thing!). Also, vaccines are being administered to more and more people…which is the most important thing!

Shooting high-speed film at night

For the longest time I’ve had a roll of medium format Ilford Delta Pro 3200 in my film stash, because I thought it’d be interesting to see how a high speed film would do in my Kiev 60 camera. I didn’t find a good moment to shoot it though, because I haven’t really taken that humongous camera out at night before. When a couple of friends and I went to the Tivoli amusement park in Copenhagen in Denmark a few weeks ago (I posted my digital shots from that outing in the blog a few weeks ago) I figured why the heck not give it a go with some high speed film in the “tank” too. Sure enough…while giving myself a bit of a shoulder ache from the weight of the camera in the bag I did shoot the first half of the roll there.

Medium format at the coast

There’s been a bit of a lull in photography for me in the last two weeks, due to the weather being crap and a general feeling of blaaaah, so this post is a few days behind my self-imposed weekly blogpost deadline. I do have some new-ish pictures to share though, from the photo club walkabout at the coast I did two weekends ago.

The 365 Project Mark IV - The Seventh Month Summary

And once again it’s time for a monthly wrap-up post on my 365 project (after a one-week hiatus in my posting). The months just seem to fly by…it almost feels like it was yesterday I was out there in February freezing various body parts off shooting images for this project. Nah, not really…it actually has been quite awhile since then and I’ve amassed quite a lot of pictures in my project since, passing the 200 mark during the month of July!

Photowalking is fun!

Photowalking is fun!

A little while back I went on a lot of different group photowalks, both in my photo club, in various Facebook groups as well as through Instawalks with the IgersMalmoe group/collective/heap of photographers (whatever noun fits). Lately I’ve done more solo meanderings through cities with my camera; not because I find anything wrong with group photowalks, it’s just something that’s evolved over time.

Bring a camera!

There is a saying among photographers that’s been uttered so many times that it’s become a cliche, more than a cliche even: “The best camera is the one that you have with you”. That utterance is most definitely true…it is after all tricky to shoot anything if you don’t have a picture-taking device on your person…but it’s also such a cliche that I tend not to say it…not much anyway.

An outing to the "Troll Woods"

For the longest time I’ve had a roll of Fomapan 200 loaded into an old Zeiss Ikon Nettar folding camera and since I now shoot my medium format stuff mostly with my “small” Kiev 60 camera that roll has been there for quite some time. Just to not let it get too old I brought it along when my dad and I went out to the beech forest near a small village called Torna Hällestad. That is a place where some of the beech trees have a strange tendency to contort themselves while they grow, turning them into quite surrealistic shapes in some cases.

The 365 Project Mark IV - The Second Month Summary

Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Already one sixth into the new year and my ongoing 365 project is well on the way to becoming a routine again. Last year I ran out of steam regarding the uploading part during the spring months for a variety of reasons, but this year I am going to keep it up and upload stuff every day. I think the addition of negative scans here and there among the cell phone shots will be the thing that keeps me going, that inspires me to do this one more year. Mixing it up a bit you know!
