At the start of July it was once again time for the Pride parade to make its way through the city of Malmö, and I was there to document the event. I definitely enjoy photographing at Pride, and to be there to show my support for the cause. To me it’s utterly incomprehensible the way we are still, in the year 2025, having people who are so incredibly intolerant and stuck in their old ways and can’t accept that other people have other lives to lead, lives that won’t affect their own in any way whatsoever!
I photographed my first Pride Parade 12 years ago, and I still find it fun and exciting to try to photograph it to the best of my ability. The beard is a bit grayer and my camera is both a bit newer and a lot smaller, but the rainbow colors are still the same.

I started this year’s photography with going to the area next to the city library where the various groups and organizations were gathering before the parade. There were speeches (one by a member of the European Parliament for the Green Party), a same sex wedding and a musical performance. I didn’t get any pictures of the latter two though because the rain was pretty intense then and I didn’t want to risk my camera going fzzzzt on me. I took shelter under the canopy of a big tree since my umbrella had begun to collapse on me and only provided a small amount of rain protection.
The parade was scheduled to depart from the park at 1 PM, so about fifteen minutes before that I left that area and walked about two blocks away where my parents were waiting to watch the people walk by in their colorful attire. I have not seen any official numbers on how many people were in the parade, but to my untrained crowd guesstimate eyes it DEFINITELY looked like more people than last year.
Below are all the keepers I ended up with from the parade as it made its way past me. As always I shot these pictures with a Fujifilm XT-3 and I used an 18-55 mm 2.8-4.0 lens. The images were then processed in Adobe Lightroom Classic.
