Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Already one sixth into the new year and my ongoing 365 project is well on the way to becoming a routine again. Last year I ran out of steam regarding the uploading part during the spring months for a variety of reasons, but this year I am going to keep it up and upload stuff every day. I think the addition of negative scans here and there among the cell phone shots will be the thing that keeps me going, that inspires me to do this one more year. Mixing it up a bit you know!Read More
The 365 project is back! Actually it never left after I took the 365th picture of 2018, I just kept going into the new year. I didn’t feel done with my one picture per day thing, partly because I didn’t upload the pictures daily during the year - I just stored them on my computer and inserted them into my book file, yet to be printed.
This year though, the still somewhat new and shiny 2019, I am going back to uploading the daily image to my Instagram account. I am widening my sources of images too, no longer restricting myself to cell phone shots only. As good as the Samsung S8+ is, I have snapped quite a few good ones with my (to me) new Kiev 60 medium format camera too, so I will include a few of them here and there as the year progresses, and possibly other analog photos as well.Read More
Time for the last of three one-a-day postings to close out 2018, where I write about some of the pictures of September and October (November and December will be commented on in the new year). These two fall months are often quite pretty in this part of the world with all the changing colors in nature, so photographic opportunities are definitely out there (assuming you don’t shoot mostly black and white film as I do now of course! ;-)Read More
It’s no secret that I've taken quite a long break from posting stuff this year...especially for those few who followed my Instagram 365 project on Instagram. The last post I did on that one was on May 1st. Like I said in my last blog post; for a variety of reasons I ran out of the urge to upload things, so that account became dormant along with many other online outlets of mine.
However I didn’t stop taking photos during the “downtime”, so I still have pictures for my yearlong project. They’re posted here in galleries on my website instead of in one big gloop of pictures on Instagram, because it would be wrong to spam the heck out of that account with all the pictures!Read More
Fourth month of the year is done and once again it is time for a little monthly wrap-up post from me. April was not a very happy month for me and I am very glad we are now into the month of May when the weather is better and the light lasts longer and longer every day! I did lose the urge to post my images every day right after the middle of the month, but I've since caught up again and I don't have any plans on stopping the project before I am done on December 31st.Read More
So...it’s now February 2018 and that means I am officially done with the first month of this year’s 365 project and it also means that it is time to look back at the 31 images I uploaded during that month. Just like I did during my 2016 365 Project I’ll pick 5 or 6 images and write a bit about each so there's a little bit more "meat" than just the hashtags I've put on each on my posts to Instagram.Read More
This is my 12th and final Wrap-Up post for the year-long project I had during 2016. That means that for 366 straight days I was able to take, edit and post a picture on Instagram. (that's bending the truth a bit though about the take a picture part...there were days when I didn't take the actual picture but had to resort to using the "archive").
I'll probably do a whole year retrospective blogpost in a little while, once the project has sort of settled in my mind, so this will be "just" a December wrap-up in the same vein as the previous ones; a cover image and then some pictures from the last month's batch.Read More
So...here it is, my last but one wrap-up post for this year's project. I've done well over 330 pictures so far on something I quite honestly wasn't sure I'd be able to complete. I've got a habit of starting projects that I end up not finishing for various reasons. But this one has stuck with me for 11+ months now. I have no intention to quit now that I'm so close to the "goal", and in fact in the last few days I've toyed with the idea of keeping it up into next year.Read More
Whenever November rolls in my photography urges tend to fall to a year low, because frankly both the weather and the light tend to be dreary as hell. Also, I tend to be a bit more occupied with something that has become a tradition for me. For the past eight years I've participated in the National Novel Writing Month (yep, been there, done that, have the sweater...and the thermos mug...and the stickers) which, if anyone who knows me doesn't know too much about it already, is where you set the yourself the goal to write a pre-first draft of a novel of 50,000 words in one month. That's 1,667 words per day for 30 days in a row.Read More
Once again it's time to do a monthly wrap-up on my yearlong photo project. This was the tenth month in a row of taking, editing and posting an image every day via Instagram. This month also meant I passed the completely arbitrary, but still somewhat impressive, 300th image of the year. As before I've picked 5 images plus a "cover" to write a bit more about them.Read More
