These last few weekends this analog film shooter has done quite a bit of digital photography (sacrilege I know!), since I’ve visited a few events where there are more action filled elements and I am not really good at capturing action with my analog cameras…yet.Read More
Five months gone already? Really? This year is proceeding fast. Just one month to go to the halfway point, and then it’s all downhill from there. Well, if this had been a hill climb it might be, but it’s not, so I’ll refrain from more analogies I think. Anywho…I am glad that we’re into the sixth month of the year, because it’s warm(ish) outside and there’s a lot of daylight (too much of it according to certain Texan people I know I am sure!). I like it though, because it gives me more time to shoot during the days.Read More
The weather is no longer arctically (is that a word? if not it should be!) frigid outside, so the Swedes suddenly sport all kinds of color in their choice of clothing rather than the dark blue, black or brown we seem to wear during the winter months (yep, I am guilty as well with my black coat), so it seemed like a good idea to head out there again for some street photography. I’ve not done a whole lot of it this winter, and the little I’ve done I haven’t really felt the urge to post on the blog.Read More
Another month done, so it is time for a monthly wrap-up post. This makes for my fourth such post, making this a third of the year done already. It doesn’t feel like I’ve done 120 days of this project, but when I do look in my 365 folder on the computer there are indeed over 120 images there…so it must be true.
Anyway, spring made its full and complete arrival during the month of April, and there were even hints of summer temperatures right around Easter, which made for an enjoyable couple of days right around that holiday.Read More
This weekend I had the privilege of teaching the first part (of three) of this semester’s analog photography course at my photo club. It’s the second time I am in charge of this course (I took it myself back in 2016) and it is definitely a lot of fun! I do enjoy bringing the knowledge of this aspect of photography to more club members, and it’s encouraging to know that we’re attracting more new members, both to the club as well as to analog photography as a whole.Read More
This week’s blog post is a mix of photos taken on the streets of Malmö, Sweden in the last few weeks. I’ve done a fair bit of analog street photography lately, but haven’t shared much of it on my blog…until now that is. The light has been rather unkind to photographers in the last few weeks, even if it looks pretty sunny in many of these pictures. However, given the sunlight we had today and almost 10 degrees Celsius (50 F) it feels like we are on the right path towards both tolerable temperatures and good light!Read More
Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Already one sixth into the new year and my ongoing 365 project is well on the way to becoming a routine again. Last year I ran out of steam regarding the uploading part during the spring months for a variety of reasons, but this year I am going to keep it up and upload stuff every day. I think the addition of negative scans here and there among the cell phone shots will be the thing that keeps me going, that inspires me to do this one more year. Mixing it up a bit you know!Read More
The 365 project is back! Actually it never left after I took the 365th picture of 2018, I just kept going into the new year. I didn’t feel done with my one picture per day thing, partly because I didn’t upload the pictures daily during the year - I just stored them on my computer and inserted them into my book file, yet to be printed.
This year though, the still somewhat new and shiny 2019, I am going back to uploading the daily image to my Instagram account. I am widening my sources of images too, no longer restricting myself to cell phone shots only. As good as the Samsung S8+ is, I have snapped quite a few good ones with my (to me) new Kiev 60 medium format camera too, so I will include a few of them here and there as the year progresses, and possibly other analog photos as well.Read More
For a few years a while back I went to every annual summer Viking market at Foteviken just south of Malmö to take pictures, because as a history nerd I thought it was so cool to see people in (at least somewhat period accurate) Viking costumes, re-enacting the time period. Then I felt I had photographed that to the best of both my abilities as well as my interest (mostly the latter), but in 2018 I thought 'I haven't shot the event with analog equipment, so that might be a new challenge!'Read More
Unlike many middle-aged men I am not a very car-obsessed person. To me a car is more a means to an end - a way to get from point A to point B, preferably in one piece - than an interest or a hobby. However, I do appreciate cool designs and people who are into a particular interest, because in a way they're the same kind of nerds/geeks that us photographers are...only aimed at another specialty field.Read More
