And once again it’s time for a monthly wrap-up post on my 365 project (after a one-week hiatus in my posting). The months just seem to fly by…it almost feels like it was yesterday I was out there in February freezing various body parts off shooting images for this project. Nah, not really…it actually has been quite awhile since then and I’ve amassed quite a lot of pictures in my project since, passing the 200 mark during the month of July!Read More
Five months gone already? Really? This year is proceeding fast. Just one month to go to the halfway point, and then it’s all downhill from there. Well, if this had been a hill climb it might be, but it’s not, so I’ll refrain from more analogies I think. Anywho…I am glad that we’re into the sixth month of the year, because it’s warm(ish) outside and there’s a lot of daylight (too much of it according to certain Texan people I know I am sure!). I like it though, because it gives me more time to shoot during the days.Read More
One fourth of the year is over and I have another 31 images to write a blog post about…my March “harvest”. It’s been an interesting month photography wise, because at long last it looks like the snotfest we call winter is finally over and we’re on the way towards better light, which is pretty crucial for photography…at least if you want to take anything more than “moody” gray photos (nothing wrong with those though if that’s what you’re after).Read More
Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Already one sixth into the new year and my ongoing 365 project is well on the way to becoming a routine again. Last year I ran out of steam regarding the uploading part during the spring months for a variety of reasons, but this year I am going to keep it up and upload stuff every day. I think the addition of negative scans here and there among the cell phone shots will be the thing that keeps me going, that inspires me to do this one more year. Mixing it up a bit you know!Read More
The 365 project is back! Actually it never left after I took the 365th picture of 2018, I just kept going into the new year. I didn’t feel done with my one picture per day thing, partly because I didn’t upload the pictures daily during the year - I just stored them on my computer and inserted them into my book file, yet to be printed.
This year though, the still somewhat new and shiny 2019, I am going back to uploading the daily image to my Instagram account. I am widening my sources of images too, no longer restricting myself to cell phone shots only. As good as the Samsung S8+ is, I have snapped quite a few good ones with my (to me) new Kiev 60 medium format camera too, so I will include a few of them here and there as the year progresses, and possibly other analog photos as well.Read More
And here is the last wrap-up post for the 2018 365 Project, covering the last two months of the year. It didn’t turn out quite the way I began it, but I finished it all the same. As with all the previous wrap-up posts I’ve done I’ve picked a few pictures from each month and written a little bit about each picture.
If you scroll all the way to the bottom of this post I also have some news for 2019…but I hope you glance at the pictures as you scroll! ;-)Read More
Time for the last of three one-a-day postings to close out 2018, where I write about some of the pictures of September and October (November and December will be commented on in the new year). These two fall months are often quite pretty in this part of the world with all the changing colors in nature, so photographic opportunities are definitely out there (assuming you don’t shoot mostly black and white film as I do now of course! ;-)Read More
This is day two of my “oh darn it’s almost New Year’s Eve and I need to post my wrap up entries before the year is over” frenzy. This post contains some thoughts about photos taken during the very dry months of July and August of this year…although August provided us with a certain amount of wet relief from all the drought alerts and panicky messages from farmers and others reliant on weather.Read More
2018 is just shy of three weeks old as I write this on January 20 and if you happen to follow me on Instagram (instagram.com/tomasnilssonfoto), Twitter (twitter.com/tomnilsson) or Facebook (facebook.com/TomasPhotos) you may have noticed that there has been a few daily Instagram photo postings from me under the #instagram365 hashtag since January 1.Read More
