Once again it was time for the local Science Fiction book store to put on their Nerd Parade through the streets of Malmö, an event put on to celebrate Towel Day (May 25th), to honor the legacy of Douglas Adams, the author of the Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. For practical reasons the parade was moved to Saturday May 27th and the gathering point was outside the City Library, where nerds of all ages and interests began to gather.

Nerds...so many nerds!
My title for this post may sound like something negative, but it is most definitely not! Quite the contrary in fact! I am myself a photo nerd, so to see so many people enjoy their immense interest in certain movie/game or book characters and dressing up as them was a delight. More nerdery is a good thing!

Second week in a row with digital images from me…which is kind of rare for me these days. Don’t worry though, I haven’t abandoned my analog gear in any sort of way, it’s just that this week’s images would most likely NOT look as interesting in black and white!
I’ve been coming to the St:Patrick’s Day celebrations in Copenhagen for several years to photograph the antics and hijinks of the revelers, and this year I got 7 of my fellow photo club shooters to come along. Last weekend the Sci-Fi bookstore in Malmö reopened in a new and bigger locale, and to celebrate this (as well as Geek Pride Day earlier in the week) there was a parade where everyone was encouraged to show off their inner geek, in whatever form that may be.

Sometimes I wonder how many times you have to do something for it to become a tradition. Two? Three? More? Anyway...this weekend marked my fourth time visiting the Sakura festival in Copenhagen, Denmark to photograph the blossoming cherry trees, the performances and mostly the people visiting the festival.

I went to the Sci-Fi World event in Malmö, Sweden this weekend with my 12 year old nephew, who is a “nerd-in-training” with a preference for Star Wars, the world of Tolkien and LEGO of all kinds. Of course I brought my camera with the hopes of capturing a few cosplayers there.
