There is an annual tradition in my small south Swedish hometown of a big motor festival right around June 6th (our national day), or at least a weekend close to that. This year that happened on June 7th and the whole of Main Street as well as several side streets as well as the town park were blocked off to be part of the parade and later display area for the dozens and dozens of vehicles that people wanted to show off and see for themselves.

Cars upon cars upon cars
Right from the start I will say that I am NOT much of a car person. I don’t care which car on the market has the most horse powers or what different versions of a certain car brand there are, so spending time photographing cars and posting a lot of colorful images of them online may seem slightly out of character for me. That is true, if we’re talking modern cars, but I do like seeing old cars’ design and the way people fix them up, many cars being close to 60 or more years old!

Unlike many middle-aged men I am not a very car-obsessed person. To me a car is more a means to an end - a way to get from point A to point B, preferably in one piece - than an interest or a hobby. However, I do appreciate cool designs and people who are into a particular interest, because in a way they're the same kind of nerds/geeks that us photographers are...only aimed at another specialty field.

Concert and cars, lots of cars
“Take less photos...take better photos!” That was the phrase that I started out this year with, and while it feels like I’ve done just that so far this last week has been a direct contradiction of that. At least the first part (hopefully not the last part).
